Official Dover Athletic Football Club - Youth Teams - Ashford United Youth U16 1 - 3 DAFC U16
Ashford United Youth U16 1 - 3 DAFC U16 Paul Evison | Mon 5th Dec 2011
Following successive home draws Dover beat Ashford comfortably in this return fixture.
Dover took an early lead through an own goal, the Ashford defender heading in from a Tom Bines cross. Dover's midfield were controlling the game and it was no surprise that the second goal came. It was a cool finish from Tom to claim the second with a deft lob from 12 yards out. Ashford we're on the verge of collapse but Dover didn't quite finish them off dispite Bines and Jordan Blackford going close. After the break, new boy David Pilcher hit the 3rd directly from a freekick 20 yards out, the ball dipping just under the bar to give the keeper no chance. Ashford stuck back with a stunning strike from the corner of the box with 5 minutes to go but Dover never looked like giving any points back to the home team. The game was played in great spirit and the ref commented on the sporting nature of the two teams.
