This was a good team performance from Dover and they should have scored a lot more goals. In the first half Athletic were kicking up hill against the wind and had to soak up the pressure from a battling Hythe. Dover were their own worst enemy by holding on to the ball too long and kept getting caught allowing Town to get into the game. Then in the 40th minute a precision through ball from Sammy Evison found Mikesh PATEL who then ran at the defence and slotted the ball low past the keeper to make it 0-1 at the break.

Athletic came out 'guns a blazin' and within minutes made it two when Sam PRITCHARD closed down a clearance, after an excellent move from defence, that found the back of the net, 0-2. In the 55th minute there was a goal mouth scramble that got put away by Danny MASLAK, 0-3. Dover's fourth came from a free kick out on the right taken by Cammy Morgan who found Henry PIPER in the box to head home, 0-4. Hythe then got one back after a low cross deflected, almost in slow motion, into the goal, 1-4. After quite a few more attacks, with deft touches and precision passing Dover had some more chances. Then EVISON won a few midfield challenges and shot low into the right hand side of the goal from the edge of the box to make the final score 1-5.
